Facial Hair Removal

Facial hair removal is of crucial importance particularly to women.  Women can suffer from facial hair growth for a range of reasons including hormone imbalances, pale skin tone against dark hair colour, cultural background and heredity.  Some of these can be corrected by medication and can result in the problem being totally resolved, while others may result in hair thinning only.

For those who are seeking permanent facial hair removal, one of the first places to start is at your local GP.  Your facial hair may be the result of an easily correctable hormone imbalance.  Your GP will probably want to take blood and have your hormone levels tested or may even refer you to an endochronologist if the blood tests reveal other hormone issues which the GP does not specialise in.  Again this process is intrusive and may be very embarrassing for women suffering from unnatural facial hair.  If you wish to pursue this avenue, it may be advisable to seek support from a family member or close friend who will attend doctor’s appointments with you and help you deal with the emotionally draining side of this issue.

There are a plethora of new technologies claiming facial hair removal for women after just a few visits.  I suggest one should be cautious when committing to such methods.  These methods may promote a new laser that supposedly kills off the hair follicle and hence tout themselves as the best facial hair removal system.  It is generally accepted however that laser hair removal does eventually kill the hair follicle, but it takes some time and will require several visits.  These laser facial hair removal treatments are extremely expensive and you need to insist on a total estimate of outlay before making the commitment to begin one of these treatments.  This method of hair removal feels like rubber bands striking the skin.  Each person’s level of tolerance to this sensation is different.  Some find it mildly irritating, but not really painful, while others are unable to tolerate the sensation on their face.

The other method of hair removal uses an electrical current.  A fine needle like probe is inserted into the each hair follicle.  A technician uses a magnifying light to insert the probe.  Once an area is covered, a low voltage pulse is sent down the needle like probe into the hair follicle.  This again is a method that takes several visits to work.  Fine or weak hairs may be dealt with in one visit, but course and dark hair will generally take many visits.  Again this is an expensive system, but it will eliminate the problem.  As the description indicates, it is also a painful process, as the needle like probes being inserted around the face are invasive and painful.  Each treatment will result in some swelling and redness in the area being treated.

The main areas of facial hair removal for men are between the eyebrows and the body of the eyebrow itself.  As these are relatively contained areas, they could use all of the methods described above and experience considerable success in permanently removing hair.
